EFT Parenting Coaching Australia Life-changing Solution for Overwhelmed Mothers Alison Brock Cropped

My Journey to Wellness

In February 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was such a shock. I was absolutely terrified – not for myself, but for my three children, who were then aged three, six and nine years old.

All I could think about was, “What if I die?”.

How will my children cope, growing up without a mother?’

I started studying everything I could about cancer, health and wellness, beginning with Kris Carr’s book, “Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips”.

Fortunately, I was already on a good path when it came to my physical wellness. I had a healthy diet, drinking green juice and green smoothies on a daily basis. I regularly practiced yoga and went hiking in nature.

How EFT Helped Me with My Cancer Journey

My emotional health was another matter.

I did not have any effective tools to manage, let alone reduce, my stress and anxiety. My sleep habits were poor. I had been using alcohol as a method of relaxation, thinking I needed it in order to really enjoy myself.

I began changing my lifestyle immediately.

I quit drinking alcohol, focussed on getting more and better quality sleep, and started meditating.

Understanding that stress can be a major contributing factor to a cancer diagnosis,
I had to find ways to think more positively.

The first few weeks after
receiving a cancer diagnosis are often the worst.

There is so much fear and uncertainty as you await the results of numerous tests.

The night before my PET scan, by pure chance, I attended an EFT workshop and learned how to tap. I was so grateful to learn this tool so early in my journey, to help calm my nerves and release my fears.

After undergoing a lumpectomy in Hong Kong, I travelled to San Diego and attended a ten-day “Perfect Health” retreat at the Chopra Centre. The retreat was run by Dr. Deepak Chopra, an expert in mind-body healing.

During the retreat, I learned meditation, practised yoga, studied Ayurveda, and underwent an Ayurvedic detox.

Integrating EFT, meditation, yoga and other Ayurvedic practices into my daily routine had a huge impact on the way my body responded to the cancer treatment, with very few side effects to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

It helped to relieve my fear and anxiety, so my body was more resilient and able to heal.

Through this experience, I learned
how detrimental the effects of stress can be.

I decided I wanted to help others to improve their health and release their stress, so they can avoid (or better deal with) any diagnosis of a potentially life-threatening illness.

I am so grateful that I found Gary Craig’s Complete EFT Certification.

Using EFT, I have resolved a lot of subconscious issues – out of my awareness yet always affecting me. I was able to identify my negative core belief (that “I’m not good enough”), its origin and triggers, and then use EFT to release unresolved negative emotions from past specific events that gave rise to this belief.

I now use EFT on a daily basis to continue to release negative emotions which come up from both present triggers and past events.

By prioritising self-care, I am better able to stay calm and maintain a loving presence when my children or others become reactive around me.

It doesn’t mean that I never get upset. However, I am less inclined to perceive situations as stressful, and, when I do feel triggered, I now have a tool to effectively release the negative emotions that come up, so my recovery time is much quicker.

Most importantly, I have learned to forgive myself when I ‘fall off the wagon’, instead of berating myself. These times serve as a lesson in forgiveness for my children – that we will all make mistakes and that we need to forgive ourselves and others, as we are all simply doing the best we can.

Creating harmony in my home

In 2016, I completed Dr Laura Markham’s Peaceful Parenting course.

It is a relationship-based approach to parenting that involves learning to:

– regulate your emotions,
– connect to and be fully present with your child; and
– ‘emotion coach’ your child to be their best self, rather than trying to control them with punishments and rewards.

My husband initially challenged this new way of parenting and was not keen on studying the materials. Fortunately, we found a parenting coach who is certified in this method of parenting and taught us how to integrate and apply the principles and strategies in practical ways.

I also realised that, as I continued to work on myself with EFT to release my anger and frustration and fears, my relationships with my husband improved and so did my relationship with our children.

When we do the inner work on ourselves and feel more at peace, those around us can feel that peace and loving acceptance and they end up changing too.

I also believe that our kids have lessons to learn from us, from all of our strengths and our weaknesses, which can help us to let go of any guilt associated with a belief that we are not a good enough parent.

A New Perspective

Since 2016, my perspective on life has completely changed.

I now look at challenges in life with a different perspective, seeing them as opportunities that created this blessing for me to be where I am now.

My own challenges provided the catalyst for me to begin my journey of spiritual growth and the motivation to learn new tools and skills.

It is my greatest joy to be of service to others, to share what I have learned and to support each client to find their way.
